Just ok. I had very high hopes after reading the reviews. The service was great and I enjoyed the cheese dip that's about it. The chips were overdone. I ordered a cheese enchilada, rice, and beans. The rice and beans were fresh but the cheese enchiladas were horrible. They do not use Mexican cheese. They use a cheddar blend that just became glue and I could get it down. It was also topped with a very bland sauce that I tried to rescue with a little hot sauce. My husband got the enchiladas supreme with 4 different enchiladas. He was disappointed with how bland it was. Said none of them had flavor.

I don't know why everyone is raving about this restaurant. I went in for lunch and ordered a combo, tostada and enchilada with rice and beans. It came out in 5 minutes. The plate was too hot to handle and my tostada was smothered with the enchilada. I had to eat my tostada with a knife and fork. Not good. I'm from the Chicago area and I've had good Mexican food. I'm Mexican and you eat a tostada with your hands. The shell should be crunchy and it was soggy. The refried beans were soupy. I told the waiter the tostada should be crunchy and he said the beef is juicy and that's why it fell apart. He did offer me another one but I was disappointed. Will not go again. Oh and the cheese topping was shredded cheese from the store. It should be Queso Fresco. I think the combo dinners are made ahead and then microwaved.

We've been three times in the short 3 weeks we've known about this place, two nights back to back! I can only speak about the Chimichanga's, I've ordered them each time. They have a nice crispy crust ad the shredded beef inside has great flavor and texture. The margarita's are great and the beer prices are really great! We'll be back several times!

Went for the first time with a large party of 11 adults. Most everyone was happy with their food but I have to comment on the one server Adrian. He appeared to be aggravated with any requests for drink refills, and extra chips and salsa. He even rolled his eyes at one of the guests when she pointed out that she was charged wrong on her check at the end of the meal. Aside from his attitude, the other servers that helped with our party were excellent and my food was very good!

Had enchiladas verdes they were very good. Tasty menu, beyond standard Tex-mex. solid staff. 'Standard' sides (Rice/beans & red salsa) were a little flat

Very good first impression! Very attentive staff - - great food and margaritas. Tried the chips, salsa and carnitas tacos - - as good as I've had in Cali, AZ, Texas and Mexico! Good prices too :-) Go there!

So happy this place opened. Just after my favorite Mexican Food on orange ave closed, this one came open. LOVE the fresh chips and awesome salsa. (I'd go back for that alone) My only complaint is that queso fresco was not on top of the frijoles....at least not the type I've always had. My bad= I should know better next time. They are eager to please, friendly, yummy, and the prices ar great. #goingbacktoGuadalajara.

Finally we have another restaurant worth eating at in Mount Dora! I've lived in Mount Dora for 25 years and it's basically a culinary wasteland. Now we have a whopping 3 restaurants worth eating at, the other 2 being Pisces Rising and Goblin Market. Yes, some would not put Plaza Guadalajara in the same class as Pisces Rising and Goblin Market but good food is good food. I had the Carnitas and my girlfriend had the Alambre Steak and both were excellent. The portions were large and food quality, temperature and taste were great. Service was also good, and although they were pretty busy and the waitress advised us that our order would take a little longer than normal, our food arrived in what I'd consider a normal amount of time. Also, their menu has some very creative options above and beyond (and in addition to) the normal Mexican fare. If you want good food in Mount Dora, and also are in the mood for Mexican I'd highly recommend it. My only complaint has nothing to do with the food or service, but rather with their sign out front, it's very colorful but barely legible, I didn't know the name of the place till I got up to the sign by the front door.

The food was fresh and very flavorful. The restaurant was very clean. The service was very good. They are really very attentive without being intrusive. And the prices were quite reasonable. The free chips and salsa was a nice touch too.

Yummy and tasty - pleasantly surprised We are from Chicago, and we know good Mexican food. This was a wonderful surprise. Everything was tastier than I am accustomed to. It was fresh, and felt prepared with love. The enchiladas were the best I have ever had. Even the chips tasted better than the cardboard I am used to getting in Mexican restaurants. Bueno Suerte!

Totally unimpressive! Our first visit, food was good, the waitress never brought my tortillas so I had nothing to eat my grilled fajita's on. When we finally found another waiter and asked him to find our waitress...She came to the table I pointed out that the tortillas never came, she said she was busy, blamed the bus boy for not bringing them out. She had never returned to our table. Then she brought them once my meal was cold and my friends had finished their dinner. Then she brought me a box to take it all home. Unbelievable the best part is the reason I gave the restaurant one star when we left we noticed her sitting at the bar talking to other waitresses. She had not been busy she was not working, but she wanted my money. I wonder where the manager was this evening!

I always judge a Mexican restaurant by its chili rellenos, and this place gets five stars. Real poblano pepper, not all disguised with breading. Perfectly cooked! This is the fifth restaurant at this location. But, we are hoping that this will one lasts for as long as we are here! Great food, excellent service and management! A great addition to Mt Dora. I think it is right up there with the Goblin and Pisces in its own way. If you like Mexican food, you must go! You will not be disappointed.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, so I will make this quick. As a former resident of Denver, Chicago and an honorary resident of the Yucatan, I have had some killer Mexican food in my life. I stopped by this spot on an early Sunday evening and the parking lot was packed. Good sign. An even better sign... A table of 12 Hispanics chatting, laughing and enjoying their food. Looking around, I noticed I was one of only a handful of gringos. Generally, a good sign. In spite of the crowd, the service was quick and polite. Food: Chips were warm and crisp and clearly not made there nor authentic (not dark and oily like the awesome REAL chips of Mexico), but they were ok. The salsa was good. My dinner was tres tacos de la parilla. One of our favorite dishes in Mexico is the same thing at la parilla de mission in Cozumel. Just the best ever. These el pastor tacos were very good. I was surprised there was no cheese served with them, but the flavor was authentic, served with grilled onion, a grilled red pepper and cilantro all on the side. An accompanying plate of refritos y arroz was surprisingly fresh (two items that are rarely fresh in most restaurants). A tomatillo salsa was a great topping for the tacos. I was hoping to see cerveza Montejo on the list since it's just arrived in the area. A phenomenal lighter beer that was previously only on the Yucatan Peninsula. If you like beer, try it. The taste is outstanding. So, rather than choose from the usual fare of beers I opted for a diet Coke, perhaps with the idea of negating the effect of pounding down this tasty meal. Fresh food, good service and I'm outta there for $10. I'll be back soon. Told my dentist about it this morning and they're going to see if they will cater their staff meeting. Go try it. It's a win. I look forward to trying many other dishes.

Pleasantly surprised. We went early on a Friday night. Meals came out super fast. We had the chicken fajita salad and chicken fajitas. Both were good. Super picky about guacamole at restaurants, but this was really good. The only downside to this meal was the chips and salsa. Would like to have fresh chips and a salsa with a little more to it. The salsa was a smooth consistency and not much flavor. Other than that good meal. Reasonable price for dinner for two. Happy Mount Dora has a better option for Mexican food now.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
